Honoring the Storyteller: My Mother’s Legacy Through Wings of Deception

Picture of author Pamela K. Carron
There’s a quiet kind of power in stories that dare to explore both the shadow and the light. My mother, Pamela K. Carron, is that kind of storyteller. Her books aren’t just fiction—they are maps for transformation, pathways through pain, and invitations to awaken.

More than a decade ago, I shared her first Wings of Deception novel with the world through an early version of this blog. Today, I return—not just to update, but to expand. To give voice to the magnitude of what she carried into the world through her writing. And to honor her legacy as both mother and author.

A Story Woven with Soul

Wings of Deception is not your typical Christian novel. It breaks molds.

Set across landscapes as vast and varied as Manhattan, rural Mississippi, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the story follows four lives—Jacks, Honey, Sheila, and Dwight—each battling demons within and without. Jacks is an atheist attorney running from his past. Honey is an agnostic psychotherapist searching for clarity. Dwight is a pastor haunted by secrets, and Sheila is the unspoken link between them all. What begins as a legal entanglement unfurls into a spiritual odyssey where evil isn’t just a metaphor—it has a name.

Asa.

An ancient force, sinister and unrelenting, Asa weaves through each of their lives like a whisper in the dark. But so does redemption. And love. And the kind of truth that doesn’t just save—it awakens.

What strikes me most, reading it now, is how deeply her characters mirror the human condition. Their questions were my mother’s questions. Their wrestlings were hers—and maybe yours too.

A Legacy Continued: Another Deception

The story didn’t end there. In 2012, she released Another Deception, the sequel that took her characters (and readers) deeper—into confrontation with even more complex moral and spiritual dilemmas. From Mississippi to the sun-drenched island of Chios, from courtroom drama to metaphysical war, this book carried her voice even further.

In many ways, Another Deception was braver, bolder, more infused with the truths she had come to hold sacred. It is also her last published work to date. But the current of her wisdom—quiet, strong, unshakable—continues to flow until her next book.

A Woman of Many Worlds

Pamela K. Carron isn’t just an author. She is a Southern woman raised in the deep woods of Mississippi, who walked the cracked sidewalks of New York, and felt most alive with her hands in the soil and spirit wide open.

She carries stories in her bones.

She understands how generational trauma, religious distortion, and the yearning for love shaped people’s lives. And she poured all of it—gently, courageously—into her books.

Why Her Work Still Matters

In this age of awakening, her novels feel more relevant than ever. Wings of Deception and Another Deception are ultimately about choosing truth over illusion. About seeing through the facades we’ve been taught to accept, and finding something more authentic—within ourselves, within each other, and within God.

They belong on the shelf next to the stories that change people—not because of grand fanfare or bestseller lists, but because they whisper to something true inside.

Read Her Books

If this speaks to you, I invite you to read her work:

In Honor of my Mother

This post isn’t just for promotion. It’s for remembrance. For honoring a woman who taught me how to live with integrity, write with soul, and speak with truth.

May her words continue to ripple through the hearts of those who find them.
